The Story Behind Grewal Golf

My uncle, an avid golfer in Africa, came to visit me in 1987. During his visit, he decided to buy a new set of clubs and chose a pair of PINGs. We often went to the golf course near the Oakland Airport to practice at the driving range. He would give me tips on my swing — using a borrowed club from the pro shop — and we shared some great moments together.

My uncle and aunt stayed with me for a week. On their last day, we went back to the driving range one final time. We stayed longer than planned, and my aunt became a bit upset as they were running late for their flight. My uncle simply said, “Gary has all kinds of business errands he has to take care of.”

They left for the airport, but sadly, on their drive home from the London airport, my uncle was in a car accident and passed away instantly. The news hit me hard. I didn’t pick up a golf club for many years after that.

More than two decades later, I finally returned to the game — and just like my uncle, I became addicted to golf and fell in love with the sport all over again.

I already had a company, Grewal Equestrian, known for producing high-quality riding gloves made from premium leather. One day while golfing with friends, one of them looked at his worn-out glove and said, “Gary, I need a new golf glove — why don’t you start making them?”

Right there between holes 2 and 3 at Sequoia Woods Country Club, I called my supplier overseas. We discussed the idea, and he confirmed that we could absolutely make golf gloves. That moment marked the birth of Grewal Golf.

We made samples for all my friends, and they loved them — especially the comfort, fit, and craftsmanship. What started as a personal story has now become a passion-driven brand, dedicated to making high-quality golf gloves that reflect the same spirit of the game my uncle loved so much.
